Collagraph Print - IN QUIET WATER
Collagraph Print - IN QUIET WATER
This is an original hand-pulled collagraph print. Limited edition of 3 prints. (Update: Only two left).
In Quiet Water is a drypoint print of a pelican standing alone in still water, created using a recycled TetraPak plate. The textured linework and restrained composition reflect my ongoing exploration of wildlife through discarded materials—transforming waste into works that honour the quiet dignity of native species. This piece invites a moment of pause, mirroring the bird’s own presence in a fragile, shared landscape. Each piece is hand-pulled using recycled TetraPak, a unique and sustainable printmaking technique that adds character and depth to the artwork.
Collagraph is a versatile printmaking technique where textures are built up on a plate, creating beautiful depth. This type of collagraph is made using the inside of recycled TetraPaks (e.g. long life milk cartons). The surface of the tetrapak is manipulated by means of tearing, sanding, drypoint and other processes to create the desired texture. Ink is applied to the surface, and the image is pressed onto paper using a printing press. The mark making process is a detailed and time consuming process, and requires a high level of attention and patience.
Each sheet of paper is hand torn to the required size. Your print will have two deckled edges and two hand torn edges.
Due to the nature of the handmade process, each print is unique and will have slight variations.

Behind the Price Tag: Each of my hand-pulled prints is an original artwork - etched, carved, and printed by hand using traditional printmaking methods. There’s no digital reproduction here, just time, skill, and many quiet hours in the studio. These works are printed in small editions, signed, and made to last. My pricing reflects the labour, materials, and care involved - as well as my goal to make a sustainable living from my creative work. It’s easy to spend without hesitation on mass-produced items. This is something different: slow, personal, and created with intention.
