Linocut Print - THE WORKING DOG

$150.00

This is an original hand carved linocut print. Limited edition of 10 prints.

The Working Dog is a limited edition linocut print (edition of 10) featuring a very dedicated canine — always dressed for the job. A bit of a departure from my usual subject matter, this piece was created for an exhibition themed Cats, Dogs & Birds, so I took the chance to try something a little different (and have a bit of fun with it). Hand-carved and printed in my studio, each print has its own quirks, just like the best co-workers. Whether you’re a dog lover, an art collector, or just appreciate a good visual pun, The Working Dog makes a charming (and quietly cheeky) addition to your wall.

Linocut printing is a form of printmaking referred to as relief printing. My process in creating a print starts with an illustration. I then transfer the illustration to the lino block. The image is carved into the block using specialty carving tools. The carving process is a detailed and time consuming process, and requires a high level of attention and patience. The blocks are then inked with archival quality ink and printed on acid free archival quality printmaking paper. Each sheet is hand torn to the required size.

Your print will have two deckled edges and two hand torn edges. Due to the nature of the handmade process, each print is unique and will have slight variations.

Paper Size: 28.5cm (W) x 38cm (H)
Image Size: 22cm (W) x 21.5cm (H)
Paper: Somerset Satin Printmaking Paper 250gsm

Each print is signed, titled, and numbered in pencil on the front, at the bottom of the paper.

Packaging: Your print will be packaged within a plastic sleeve with backing board. The print will be shipped in a rigid mailer.

Behind the Price Tag: Each of my hand-pulled prints is an original artwork - etched, carved, and printed by hand using traditional printmaking methods. There’s no digital reproduction here, just time, skill, and many quiet hours in the studio. These works are printed in small editions, signed, and made to last. My pricing reflects the labour, materials, and care involved - as well as my goal to make a sustainable living from my creative work. It’s easy to spend without hesitation on mass-produced items. This is something different: slow, personal, and created with intention.
