Drypoint Print - The Wind-Held Kestrel

$150.00

This is an original hand-pulled drypoint print; handmade with love. Limited edition of 5 prints.

The Wind-Held Kestrel is a small TetraPak drypoint print of a Nankeen Kestrel suspended mid-hover. Using fine linework and soft tonal textures, the piece captures a fleeting moment of stillness in motion—when the kestrel holds itself steady against the air, watching the world below in silent focus.

This type of drypoint print is made using the inside of recycled TetraPaks (e.g. long life milk cartons). The surface of the tetrapak is manipulated by means of tearing, sanding, scribing and other processes to create the desired texture. Ink is applied to the surface, and the image is pressed onto paper with high pressure using a printing press. The mark making process is a detailed and time consuming process, and requires a high level of attention and patience.

Each sheet of paper is hand torn to the required size. Your print will have deckled and hand torn edges.

Due to the nature of the handmade process, each print is unique and will have slight variations.

Behind the Price Tag: Each of my hand-pulled prints is an original artwork - etched, carved, and printed by hand using traditional printmaking methods. There’s no digital reproduction here, just time, skill, and many quiet hours in the studio. These works are printed in small editions, signed, and made to last. My pricing reflects the labour, materials, and care involved - as well as my goal to make a sustainable living from my creative work. It’s easy to spend without hesitation on mass-produced items. This is something different: slow, personal, and created with intention.

Note: Images shown in frames are mock-ups only and are not an indication of scale and size. Please refer to the measurements given above for correct indication of size. Colours will vary in real life compared to what you see on your screen.
